SUMMARY:Webinar series: Deep Learning based Super Resolution in Remote Sensing for Agriculture
DESCRIPTION:Remote sensing (RS) satellite images are increasingly used in several monitoring\, planning and management applications. Although spectral and spatial resolution of RS satellite images has great importance for the performance of the application\, optimal conditions may not be possible in many cases due to physical limitations and the feasibility restrictions. RS Image Super-resolution aims restoring the high-resolution remote sensing images from the given low-resolution images and it demonstrated significant development in parallel to the deep learning algorithms. Recent advances of deep learning based RS image super-resolution methods and their possible impact on agricultural monitoring applications will be evaluated and presented in this webinar by professor Elif Sertel. \nWebinar series: Deep Learning based Super Resolution in Remote Sensing for Agriculture \n \n  \nElif Sertel is a Professor at Geomatics Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University (ITU). She conducted her PhD dissertation work and had post-doctoral researcher position at Rutgers University\, USA as a Fulbright Scholar. Professor Sertel is in the Editorial Board of “Geocarto International” and “International Journal of Digital Earth” journals. She held the Director position at ITU-Center for Satellite Communications and Remote Sensing between 2012 and 2021. Her main research interests are remote sensing\, geo-statistics\, machine learning based image processing for remote sensing\, disaster management\, remote sensing for agricultural monitoring and land-cover/use change. She has more than 150 scientific publications in the literature and received multiple prestigious awards in the field. \n  \n  \nLive at Zoom and Youtube (14th November 2022): \nhttps://itu-edu-tr.zoom.us/j/97074775930?pwd=b29RV2VGbDNudWhiN1dia0tGLzlEZz09 \nyoutu.be/JWf8l-b4xrk \nModerator: Prof.Dr. B.Berk Ustundag – Vice President / ISAM & Professor of Istanbul Technical University \n  \n12th September  9:00 New York/ET \n______________14:00 London \n______________17:00 İstanbul \n______________22:00 Beijing

SUMMARY:Webinar series: Digital Twins in Agriculture
DESCRIPTION:Global food demand is estimated to rise around 50% in the next 30 years\, while arable land per capita continuously decreases. On the other hand\, energy dependency of modern farming technics and the farm to fork food chain increases. Efficiency management has become a strategic factor for food and agriculture. Digital twin concept appears as one of the key methods for the efficiency management. \nDigital twins in agriculture can potentially be used by the farmers\, agronomists\, traders and the governmental authorities at different scales. It enables near-real-time crop status monitoring and management through fusion of models\, operational records\, remote sensing data and the in-situ measurements. It has wide span of potential usage that includes planning\, production\, farm management\, basin management\, market management\, sustainability and the food logistics. \nAlthough the popularity of the digital twin raises\, there are also many questions about its feasibility\, applicability\, suggested methods and the possible performance in real-life cases. Professor Bedir Tekinerdogan is one of the leading scientists in digital twin research for agriculture. He will present and evaluate potentials\, concerns and suggestions about digital twins in agriculture. \n  \nProf.Dr. Bedir Tekinerdogan is full professor and chairholder of the Information Technology group at Wageningen University\, The Netherlands. His current research at Wageningen University concerns smart system of systems engineering\, with an emphasis on software engineering\, artificial intelligence\, and information technology. He has more than 25 years of experience in information technology and software/systems engineering. He is the author of more than 400 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 6 edited books. He has been active in dozens of national and international research and consultancy projects with various large software companies\, whereby he has worked as a principal researcher and leading software/system architect in different domains such as enterprise systems\, automotive systems\, critical infrastructures\, cyber-physical systems\, satellite systems\, defense systems\,  command and control systems\, and the precision farming. Professor Tekinerdogan is a board member of ISAM. \n  \n  \n  \nLive at Zoom (12th September 2022): \nhttps://itu-edu-tr.zoom.us/j/92874973284?pwd=ZmVqSHRqbG1UNDRiZE9IaWh4czFDZz09 \nModerator: Prof.Dr. B.Berk Ustundag – Vice President / ISAM \n  \n12th September  10:00 New York/ET \n______________15:00 London \n______________17:00 İstanbul \n______________22:00 Beijing
